After wrapping up a district title, the Shiner Comanches will look to accomplish an undefeated regular season as they play at Flatonia.

The Bulldogs are currently in fourth place in the district with a 2-2 record while Shiner is first at 4-0. Weimar and Refugio are both 3-1 while Schulenburg and Ganado are 0-4.

"Flatonia has really done well in the last couple of games. They are starting to really find their identity on offense and play more physical," Shiner head coach Steven Cerny said.

Flatonia prefers the power running game on offense but has ran plays of out the shotgun earlier in the season.

"They like unbalanced formations, split-back, veer and I-formation," he said. "They can really put the opposing defensive line in awkward positions.

Flatonia's ground game is led by running back Gabe Smith with quarterbacks Brayden Mica and Casen Novak who are a threat when running the veer.

"The last few weeks, our defense has been extremely run oriented," Cerny said. "We really expect Flatonia to be very physical."

The 'Dog defense comes out in the split and 4-3 formations.

"We are expecting Flatonia to run a lot of different looks and our offense will have to adjust," Cerny said. "We have speed but always rely on our offensive line."

The Comanches have a chance to be undefeated in the regular season for the first time since 2004.

"That is our goal in this rivalry game, that is the truest rivalry game Shiner has," he said.

Key players on the Flatonia defense are linebacker San Juan Ramirez and defensive back Raul Olmos.
