Shiner (4-0) and Goliad (4-0) play after last year’s game was canceled because of Hurricane Harvey.
Shiner has won the previous four games over Goliad.
Shiner is ranked No. 2 in the Class 2A state poll, and Goliad is ranked No. 2 in the Class 3A state poll.
Shiner has outscored its four opponents by a combined margin of 146-37. Goliad owns a 162-28 advantage over its opponents.
Shiner’s Donyai Taylor, Doug Brooks and Devin Lehnert have combined to rush for 828 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Goliad’s Rocky Morris has passed for an area-leading 967 yards and 10 touchdowns, and Jackson Taylor has an area-leading 27 receptions for 341 yards and two touchdowns. Rocky Morris is suspended for the first half of the game for being ejected from last week’s win over Rockport-Fulton. Cameron Morris will start at quarterback for Goliad.
Goliad is also expected to be without running back/defensive end Logan Bland and wide receiver/defensive back Dontavion Clay, who are injured.
