Shiner Comanches at Hallettsville Brahmas
Last year: Hallettsville, 49-28.
Notes: Class 1A, Division I Shiner (1-0) travels to Brahma Memorial Stadium to play Class 2A, Division II Hallettsville (1-0) for the 11th time since 1991. Hallettsville leads the Lavaca County series 6-4.
Shiner is ranked No. 6 in the Class 1A state poll, and Hallettsville is ranked No. 12 in the Class 2A state poll.
Shiner's veer offense produced 379 rushing yards in a season-opening 34-0 win over Industrial, a district opponent of Hallettsville. Jacob Stafford rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown, Marcus Coleman had 128 yards and two touchdowns, and Tyler Patek had 101 yards and two touchdowns.
Hallettsville's Nate Kowalik passed for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 43-6 season-opening win over Ganado, a district opponent of Shiner. Hallettsville's Dalton Herrington scored a touchdown on a kickoff return, pass reception and run against Ganado.
