Shiner hosted Tidehaven in the annual Towel and Soap scrimmage Friday ( August 14, 2026 ) at Comanche Stadium.
Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said his team played with a lot of energy.
"We competed with a lot of intensity. Did make some mistakes that can be corrected but we had a good overall starting point," he said.
The Comanches offense was able to put together drives and scored several times.
"We had few negative-yard plays on offense," Boedeker said.
The Comanches defensive unit got to the ball quickly.
"We played fast on defense and I was happy the way we were running to the ball as a group," he said. "Our defensive line did a good job pressuring the quarterback.
"We did miss some tackles but that usually happens early in the year. We just have to work to get better each day."
