Quincy Jones ran for 83 yards and two touchdowns, Caleb Cowan ran for 105 yards and one touchdown; Jarvis Williams threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Shiner got a 54-0 shutout over Charlotte to start district Friday night at Comanche Stadium.
Clayton Fric also ran for a score, Williams had touchdown strikes to Boe Boehm and Jake Simper; Simper also had a short touchdown throw to Kaden Neskora.
"It was a good overall team effort. We got everybody in to get some quality reps," Comanches head coach Daniel Boedeker said. "The most important thing was we got off to a great start. We wanted to come out of the locker room and set the tone offensively. We made a big play off the back and never looked back.
The Comanche defense limited the Trojans to 31 total yards, giving up one completion for 2 yards and had allowed Charlotte to rush for 29 yards; the Trojans got just a single first down in the game.
"I thought we played really fast on defense for having a week off," Boedeker said. "It looked like we did not miss a beat and just have to keep playing one week at a time."
Shiner got a couple of players back from injury, most notably quarterback-receiver- defensive back Simper. Simper has been out with a hand injury since the Ganado scrimmage in August.
He helped on defense and special teams, played both receiver and quarterback on offense, catching a touchdown pass and throwing for one.
"I thought he did great for having not played since the Ganado scrimmage. It was definitely good to see him out there and have him contribute on both sides of the ball," Boedeker said.
The Comanches scored 27 points in the opening 12 minutes of the game.
Jones raced 60 yards on Shiner's first play from scrimmage for a 6-0 lead 13 seconds into the game.
After Charlotte went three-and-out on its first drive, Williams found Boehm for a 66-yard strike and a 13-0 lead at the 9:58 mark of the first quarter.
On its next drive, the Trojans tried to manufacture a little momentum by attempting to convert a 4th-and-2 play from their 31. Alexander Contreras was dropped for a 1-yard loss. Cowan had runs of 6 and 15 yards to get Shiner. Jones took a toss play and went 9 yards for a 20-0 Shiner lead.
Shiner gave the Trojans an unintentional gift as they muffed a punt and the visitors recovered at the plus 33. However, Charlotte did take advantage and ended up losing a fumble of its own at the 37. Shiner then marched 63 yards in four plays, capped by a 43-yard run by Fric with under a minute left in the first quarter for a 27-0 lead.
The Trojans got a good 53-yard punt to put Shiner at its own 36 but Williams simply handed off to Cowan who raced 64 yards for a touchdown and 33-0 lead less than two minutes into the second quarter.

The Comanches took a 40-0 lead with 4:05 left in the half on a seven-play, 65-yard drive that Cowan and Fric got some help from Tyler Harvey. Williams's 12-yard pass to Simper finished the drive.
Williams later scored on a 25-yard run with 1:14 left in the half to give the Comanches a 46-0 lead.
To start the third quarter with a running clock, Charlotte went three plays and punted. The Comanches took the rest of the eight minutes or so to drive 74 yards as Jace Caddell and Landyn Pohler did the work on the ground.
Later inside the Trojan 10, Simper fumbled but recovered and redeemed himself with a 6-yard pass to Neskora for a 54-0 lead after Pohler scored on a two-point play.
Charlotte used part of the fourth quarter on its last drive, another punt and Shiner then moved the ball inside the plus 10 before using the rest of the clock to conclude the game.
