Shiner scored on runs, a pass play, a punt returned for a touchdown, a pick-six (interception returned for a touchdown) and a fumble returned for a touchdown in a 68-0 demolishing of Louise Friday night ( November 1, 2024) at Comanche Stadium.
Quarterback Carson Schuette rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns; running back Caleb Lehnert rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns; Schuette throw a touchdown; Jarvis Williams returned a punt for a score, Jake Simper ran back an interception for a touchdown, Triston Vesely returned a fumble for a touchdown, and reserve running backs Cameron Evans and Jace Caddell also had one rushing touchdown.
In addition to forcing two turnovers, the Comanche defense held Louise to just 96 yards and made the Hornets punt seven times.
"We were able to score in all three phases of the game," Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. "To have success when it gets tough in the playoffs, we have to be good in all three phases."
He said Shiner would continue to improve at tackling and blocking as the regular season ends and playoffs come.
"This group will come back to work on Monday and get better," Boedeker said.
Shiner also played disciplined with just one penalty for five yards.
"That's big because we want to make sure we do the little things right because that will be important down the road," Boedeker said.

Less than 90 seconds into the game, Shiner opened scoring. Lehnert had a 10-yard run from the Hornet 47 to the 37, Quincy Jones followed up with a 21-yard run and Lehnert scored on a 16-yard run for a 7-0 Shiner lead.
Louise struggled to run the ball on their first possession, that started at their 8 but Conner Gonzalez completed his first two passes of 9 and 30 yards to get the Hornets near the 50. A few plays later, Simper picked off Gonzalez at the Shiner 35 and went 65 yards to put Shiner ahead 14-0 with 5:32 left in the first frame.
The Hornets got down to the Comanche 42 on the next drive before failing to convert a 4th-and-8.
On the second play of the next drive, Tyler Harvey took an inside handoff, gained 3 yards to the 45 and Louise was whistled for a facemask. Schuette then found a wide-open Kye Adamek for a 40-yard touchdown pass and a 21-0 lead.
Louise went three and out on the next possession, and punted 45 yards to Williams at the Shiner 32. Williams danced through some traffic and raced to the end zone with the point after no good for a 27-0 Shiner lead with 11:38 left in the first half.
A 33-yard punt by Louise put Shiner at its 43; Lehnert took the handoff up the middle for a 3 and then took a toss to the outside for a 54-yard touchdown run. Schuette had to take a bad snap and attempt a two-point play which was no good.
The Hornets punted again but held Shiner to start at its own 32 after a 50-yard kick; Caleb Cowan went inside for 14 yards and then Schuette optioned left, found some space and raced 54 yards for a 41-0 lead after he ran in a two-point play at the 5:56 mark of the second period.
The Comanches got the ball back back with 2:08 left in the half at their 32. Schuette then went 3-for-4 passing for 29 yards to the Louise 39 before scoring on a designed quarterback run for a 48-0 advantage with just over a minute until halftime.
Shiner did not take their foot off the gas pedal in the second half. Evans scored on an 11-yard run to cap a three-play, 61-yard drive for a 56-0 lead after Caddell had a two-point run. Vesely recovered a fumble by Gonzalez around the Hornet 15 and scored at the 1:48 mark of the third for a 62-0 lead after a failed two-point conversion.
Caddell's 29-yard run to cap a three-play, 51-yard drive, that saw Evans run for 20 and quarterback Chase Malinovsky gain 2 on a sneak, gave Shiner a 68-0 lead to finish scoring.
Shiner travels to Yorktown this week to wrap up the regular season. A win and Shiner wins the district outright.
