Shiner beats 'Cats 46-14 for third straight victory

Junior quarterback Carson Schuette threw for 160 yards and three touchdowns while running for 51 yards and one touchdown as the Comanches won their third-straight game and improved to 3-1 in district play with a 46-14 thrashing of the Skidmore-Tynan Bobcats on Friday ( October 13, 2023 ) in Skidmore.

Shiner gathered nearly 300 yards rushing (294) with senior running back Trace Bishop gaining 108 yards and one touchdown. Tahj Brooks added 82 yards on the ground on six carries and scored twice.

Kyle Muehlstein had two catches for 42 yards and one touchdown with Kye Adamek and Jordan Harrison the other two recipients of touchdown passes from Schuette.

The defense forced two turnovers and held S-T to 168 yards on the ground and 31 through the air.

The Comanches opened scoring just a few minutes into the game on Schuette's 32-yard run with Bode Werner's point after good at the 9:46 mark.

Bishop added an 18-yard run for a 14-0 lead with 4:58 in the first quarter and Brooks scored on a 55-yard run with 1:24 left in the first quarter for a 21-0 Shiner lead.

No one touched the scoreboard again until 2:30 left in the half when Brooks scored on a 5-yard run to put Shiner ahead 27-0.

The 'Cats got on the board with just 39 seconds left on a 3-yard run by Kolten Lopez to get within 27-6. Shiner answered with a 30-yard pass from Schuette to Harrison and a 33-6 lead with just 10 seconds left.

Schuette connected with Adamek for 33 yards late in the third quarter to put the Comanches on top 39-6.

In the fourth quarter, Schuette hit Muehlstein for a 16-yard touchdown catch with 5:11 left and S-T got another score from Lopez, a 2-yard run, and the two-point run by Bennett Martinez for a 46-14 Shiner lead with 31 seconds left in the game.
