Shiner found themselves in a position Friday ( October 7, 2022 ) at Three Rivers that was a little uncommon this season -- behind on the scoreboard. The Comanches had trailed in the season opener at Hallettsville and in their home game vs Poth.

The Bulldogs recovered an onside kick to start the game and capitalized with a touchdown pass from Caden Soliz to Derek Lancaster. It was the only time Three Rivers would score as Shiner then went on to score over five dozen unanswered points in a 67-7 rout that saw the Comanches grind up over 500 yards on the ground, force two turnovers and five punts.

Dalton Brooks scored on 2 and 61-yard runs for a 14-7 Shiner lead at the end of the quarter.

Brooks added touchdown runs of 73 and 13 yards, and Trace Bishop scored on a 26-yard run for 20 points in the second box for a 34-7 halftime lead.

Brooks concluded his scoring with a 17-yard pass from Ryan Peterson in the third frame; Bishop scored on a 3-yard run later in the quarter and scored this third, a 59-yard run, less than two minutes in the final frame.

Sophomore running back Caleb Lehnert scored on runs of 3 and 9 yards in the last six minutes of the game.

Brooks finished with 284 yards rushing and four touchdowns; Trace Bishop had 109 yards and three touchdowns with Lehnert getting 70 yards and his two scores. Beck Bishop returned to the field, running for 28 yards. Shiner had 27 first downs.
