After a surprising loss in their opener last week, Shiner needed to get back on track and rebound quickly. The Comanches got back on the right path and quickly as they downed the Industrial Cobras 47-0 Friday evening ( September 2, 2022 ) in their first home game at Comanche Stadium.

Dalton Brooks and Trace Bishop combined for 247 rushing yards and four total touchdowns. Ryan Peterson completed a pair of passes, both to Kyle Muehlstein, for 130 yards and an 84-yard touchdown. He ran for a score and Beck Bishop scored on touchdown on eight rushes for 57 yards.

"There was some things we had to come out and change from the week before (14-7 loss at Hallettsville). We worked on them all week in practice. Not just our play execution but our physicalness and some of those improvements showed up tonight," Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said.

The Comanches defense pinned their ears back against the Cobras, yielding no points and just 151 yards of offense. They got a couple of sacks, one interception, forced five punts, a missed field goal and a couple of turnover on downs.

Shiner (1-1) took the opening kickoff to their 44. Brooks had an 8-yard run to the Cobra 48 and Industrial helped out with a personal-foul penalty for 15 yards. Beck Bishop had a 14-yard run to the 19 and Brooks scored on the next play.

The Cobras went three plays and punted to the Comanche 13. Beck Bishop had a moderate gain to the 16 and Peterson hit Muehlstein for the long touchdown on the next play.

Industrial got close to midfield on its next drive but again punted, setting up Shiner at its own 20. Brooks got majority of the carries on the 11-drive play with Beck Bishop getting a couple and Trace Bishop getting one. Beck Bishop capped the drive on the fullback dive option for 21 yards and Shiner led 21-0 less than a minute into the second frame.

Industrial turned the ball over on downs on its next possession, giving Shiner the ball at the Cobra 26. Brooks had a 1-yard run to cap the five play drive and Shiner led 28-0 with 6:57 until halftime.

The Cobras managed to slither into Shiner territory getting inside the 30 but eventually moved back to the 30 and missed a 47-yard field goal attempt.

Peterson hit Muehlstein on a 46-yard pass on the first play and Shiner went ahead 35-0 on a 5-yard run by Trace Bishop with 30 seconds left in the half.

To start the third, Industrial reached the Shiner 41 but was held on downs. Shiner stalled near the 50 and attempted a fourth-down conversion in which Peterson scrambled for 22 yards. He later finished the drive on a 1-yard run with 3:25 left in the third but had the point after blocked for a 41-0 lead.

Brooks came up with an interception on the next drive; Peterson was sacked on the first play of the drive and Shiner later punted for the first time.

Later, Industrial had a 61- yard punt that Shiner returned to the its 34. Trace Bishop ripped off a 62-yard touchdown run on the third play and the point after was missed, leaving Shiner ahead 47-0 with 9:27 left in the game.
