Playoffs start this week for football teams across the state. The Shiner Comanches play Harper today ( November 11, 2021 ) at 7 p.m. at San Antonio Davenport while the St. Paul Cardinals, by virtue of winning the district, will have a first-round bye and are set to play Nov. 18-20 in the second round.
SHINER COMANCHES VS. HARPER LONGHORNS
The Comanches' road to Arlington starts with the fourth-place team out of 14-2ADI, Harper.
The Longhorns are 7-3 overall and finished district competition at 2-3. They average 25.3 points a game and give up 21.6 points a contest.
"They played well earlier in the season and lately, have had some injuries," Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. "Harper has some talent, especially on the offensive side."
The Longhorns have a very diverse offense that the Comanches have seen similar systems in district.
"Their quarterback is dual threat and they have four wide receivers that can really catch the ball and will keep you honest. Our defense will need to be lined up correctly," Boedeker said.
Harper comes out in the 3-3 stack, and will blitz and bring lots of pressure.
"The offensive line have to make sure all the gaps are covered and stay on blocks," Boedeker said.
