This week, the Shiner St. Paul Cardinals have an open week while the Shiner Comanches will play at 3A-D1 Poth.
SHINER COMANCHES AT POTH PIRATES
The Comanches (3- 0) play their first road game since playing at Hallettsville to open the season as they take on 3A Poth.
The Pirates are 2-0 on the season with a 52-0 win against Lytle and edging Falls City 17-14. "Poth has a lot of tradition and they have some good size up front," Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said. Shiner has defeated rival Hallettsville 21-6, Blanco 41-7 and came back against SA Davenport 28-14.
Quarterback Jude George (1,268 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, 1,022 rushing yards, 18 touchdowns) was District Offensive MVP and will get help from receiver Caleb Molina, receiver Jacob Fangman and lineman Hunter Dziuk. The Pirates base out of a spread but are multiple on offense.
"Jude George can run and he can throw. He is a dual-threat quarterback," Boedeker said.
"We will need to account for him at all times." Linebacker Trevor Fuller (118 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception, District MVP, All State) will lead the Pirates defense along with lineman Nick Sanchez (56 tackles, 14 tackles for loss).
"They base out of the 50 front, have a big nose tackle and the linebackers are athletic. Our offense will need to stay on our blocks very well," Boedeker said.
