The Shiner Comanches found themselves in unchartered waters in the first quarter at Weimar Friday. The Wildcats scored on the opening possession to have advantage over Shiner at 7-0.

The lead for the ‘Cats was very brief as Shiner scored 21 first-quarter points en route to a 52-7 win to remain unbeaten overall and in district while Weimar, who was 7-0 (1-0) coming into the game, fell for the first time this season.
Shiner tied the game on a 28-yard run by Donyai Taylor and extra point by Connor Winkenwerder with 7:06 left in the quarter. Zane Rhodes returned a fumble 28 yards for a score at the 3:22 mark and Taylor had a 45- yard run at the 1:10 point on the clock for a 21-7 lead.
Rhodes put six on the board offensively with a 15-yard run at the 8:37 mark of the second period. Shiner got points as time expired in the half with a 35-yard field goal by Winkenwerder. Doug Brooks had touchdown runs of 1 and 5 yards in the third quarter to give Shiner a 45-7 lead. Tyler Palmer capped scoring with a 4-yard run with 3:20 left in the game.
Taylor led Shiner with 150 yards on nine carries with two touchdowns, Rhodes added 88 yards and one score, Palmer rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown; Doug Brooks had 51 yards and two scores; Trevor Haynes had one carry for 20 yards, Noah Nevlud had 23 yards on four carries, Dalton Brooks had two carries for 13 yards and Cash Shows had one carry for 1 yard.
Palmer was 3-for-8 for 58 yards with Dalton Brooks having a 34-yard catch, Cole Patek with a 22- yard reception and Rhodes have a catch for 2 yards.
The Comanches play their final regular-season home game this week against the Kenedy Lions.
The Comanches are off Nov. 1 and are at Wallis Brazos to end the regular season.
