SANTA MARIA COUGARS AT SHINER COMANCHES
Bi-District (First Round) Playoff Game
Thursday, November 15, 2018 @ 7:00pm ... Pirates Stadium in Sinton
The Comanches open the 2018 playoffs with a rematch against Santa Maria at 7 p.m. today ( Thursday, November 15, 2018 ) at Sinton High School. The Comanches are the home team.
The teams faced off in 2017 with Shiner taking a 61-0 win.
Comanches head coach Steven Cerny said Santa Maria’s 2018 team is basically the same as last year’s team.
“They run the Wing-T on offense and run the split on defense,” he said.
The Cougars will balance out which backs carry the football and will run a lot of traps. Santa Maria will also try to catch the defense off guard with play-action passes.
“We should be able to dominate upfront as we have a size advantage,” he said.
Shiner has not exactly seen Wing-T/Slot-T teams this seasons as most of the teams they have played run some kind of spread concept.
Cerny said the Comanches will adjust and run a five-man front.
With a bigger offensive line, Shiner should be able to do what they do best by running the football.
