Shiner Comanche Football This week, Shiner St. Paul has its first home game as they welcome Victoria St. Joseph while the Shiner Comanches are at Industrial in Vanderbilt. Both contests will kick off tomorrow ( Friday, September 7, 2018 ) at 7:30 p.m.

Shiner Comanches at Industrial Cobras

The Comanches hit the road for the first time to face an Industrial team with a new head coach in James Dixon.

Shiner head coach Steven Cerny said the Cobras are very big and have lots of players on the roster.

Industrial will run a Slot-T on offense, similar to the Comanches.

“They will come right at you,” Cerny said. “Their main back is Blayne Moreland. I am hoping our size will come into play because we have some big kids. We might have to go with a five-man front on defense.”

Cerny said he is anticipating the Cobras to run a split on defense.

“In the scrimmage and one game we have seen on them, they were playing teams that run a spread offense so we may have to adjust for their defense,” he said.

Moreland and lineman Dylan Turner will be the players to watch on Industrial’s defense.

Shiner’s offense struggled with a couple of fumbled snaps and penalties against Hallettsville but have since improved in that area.

“We have to eliminate those penalties and fumbles on snaps,” Cerny said.

The Cobras opened with a 38-22 win over Mathis; Shiner blanked Hallettsville 21-0. Shiner last faced the Cobras in 2015, winning 49-0.
