Game Preview: Refugio Bobcats at Shiner Comanches
The most anticipated game on Shiner's schedule has arrived.
Shiner and Refugio meet tomorrow ( Friday, November 4, 2016 ) at 7:30 p.m. at Comanche Stadium and the winner will walk away with the district championship.
"Everyone has been looking forward to this game and has been talking about it all year," Shiner head coach Steven Cerny said. "We feel fortunate to arrive at this game undefeated in district."
Refugio is multiple on offense with spread, double tight, I-formation and more. Key players are Jaylon Mascorro who will play quarterback or tailback; Jacobe Avery will take snaps as well. The 'Cats' main receivers are Robert Frazier and D'Mond LaFond who are both tall.
"We will have to lineup correctly to deal with the multiple formations," Cerny said. "We have to contain them and prevent a big play."
On defense, Refugio runs the 5-2 with man coverage in the secondary with a free safety.
"The 'Cats' stifl ing defense has only given up 52 points on the year and just 12 in district. They only allow an average of 93 yards a game.
"We have to get positive yards on each play," Cerny said. "We have to be low and be physical because they are."
