The Shiner Comanches closed out a perfect regular season with a 28-0 shutout win over the Flatonia Bulldogs on Friday (November 6, 2015) in Flatonia.

Although the final score was a decisive Shiner win, the game stayed close all the way through the first half.

The only first half scoring for either team came on a 2-yard touchdown run by Ty Boedeker at the tail end of the first quarter. The extra point kick by Chad Neubauer put the Comanches up 7-0. There the score remained all the way into halftime.

"It was tight. Flatonia got after us and we expected that," coach Steven Cerny said. "It's the last game of the year, they're going to the playoffs too, and they came out playing really hard."

Finally, near the end of the third quarter, Dadrian Taylor broke into the end zone on a 14-yard run. Neubauer added a touchdown in the fourth quarter and Taylor ran for one more himself to round out the Comanche scoring.

Neubauer led the team in rushing yards with 149 on 15 carries and Taylor followed with 108 yards, also on 15 runs. Boedeker added 57 rushing yards and completed 2 of his 7 pass attempts, both to Taylor for 11 total passing yards. The Comanches had 342 total yards and held Flatonia to 64 yards on the night and just 5 first downs.

Shiner finishes the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. They outscored their opponents 349-68 overall and surrendered just 33 points in their 5 district games.

"Starting out, 10-0 isn't necessarily one of your goals – you want to win district," Cerny said. "Once we made it so far though, it was definitely something we were shooting for.

"I was really proud of our guys for pulling it off. It was a total team effort, not just from the players but from the entire coaching staff and the fans too. We've had great support and it's been a total group effort."

The Comanches will enter the playoffs Thursday (November 12, 2015) at 7:30 p.m. in Three Rivers. They will face the 7-3 Riviera Seahawks.

The Comanches are ranked No. 2 in this week's Harris Poll with Canadian No. 1.
