The lights at Comanche Stadium were shining bright Friday night (August 28, 2015) over Shiner’s season opener against the Industrial Cobras.

The Comanches came out ready to play and channeled their enthusiasm into a 50 yard touchdown run for Shiner running back Dadrian Taylor on the very first play of the game.

"It felt great," Taylor said about the game-opening touchdown. "I know I have one of the best lines out here. If we do what we do correctly, nobody can stop us."

That certainly seemed to be true against the Cobras. Taylor rushed for 176 yards over the course of the night, including 3 more touchdowns. He was joined in the end zone by Justin Stovall with 2 touchdowns, one on a pass from Brandon Cerny and the other rushing, and Justin Stein with Shiner’s final touchdown of the game.

Shiner successfully kicked all 7 extra points for a total of 49 points.

The Comanche defense was dominant as well, holding the Cobras scoreless the entire night and not even allowing a first down until midway through the third quarter.

Coach Cerny said, 'It was a great team effort. We had a lot of guys going both ways, and they handled it well. We were well-prepared and the guys did a great job. The advantage we had tonight was our speed. We’re going to come up against people that will match us there, so we need to keep working on our fundamentals."

In addition to Taylor’s 176 yard night, Stein ran for 88 yards and Chad Neubauer added 73 to Shiner’s 358 yard rushing total. Cerny completed 5 of his 9 pass attempts for 98 yards with no interceptions.

This Friday night (September 4, 2015), the Comanches will take on the St. Joseph Flyers at Patti Welder Stadium in Victoria at 7:30.
