Shiner rallies to beat Hawley 5-4

A two-run triple by Kailey Williams in the top of the seventh helped Shiner erase a 4-2 deficit and Williams later scored what would be the winning run as Shiner rallied from 4-1 to edge Hawley 5-4 Wednesday (June 3, 2015) afternoon in the Class 2A state semifinals at the University of Texas’ Red & Charline McCombs Field.

Shiner will head into the state title game for a record fifth time and will play Harleton this afternoon.
Shiner took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Williams and Mackinley Pilat opened the inning with walks. Williams scored on the sacrifice fly by Hannah Nevlud to left field.
Hawley brought in two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Mackenzie Anderson got a leadoff single, got to second on the bunt sacrifice by Cassidy Meyer and later scored on the single by Karlee Thompson. Thompson later scored on the hit by by Marrisa Hall.
Hawley went up 4-1 in the fourth when Meyer hit a double to score Dyer and Courtney Dillard.
The Lady Comanches got within 4-2 in the top of the fifth as Hannah Nevlud got a leadoff triple and scored on CeCe Darilek’s groundout.
Darilek earned win No. 23 with four runs on six hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
Williams finished 2-for- 3, two runs, triple and two RBI; Bethany Nevlud went 2-for-3; Kassidy Bishop was 1-for-4 with one run; Lauren Schuette added one run, Darilek was 1-for-4 with one RBI; Hannah Nevlud was 1-for- 3 with run, triple and RBI; Tamara Hajek hit 1-for-4; MacKinley Pilat hit 1-for-3 and Kori Landman had the game-winning RBI.

REGION 4 FINAL PLAYOFF
The Shiner Lady Comanches swept district foe Weimar in the regional finals series 8-6 and 6-5.
In the first game Thursday [May 27, 2015] in El Campo, Bethany Nevlud hit a pair of home runs as she went 2-for-2, two runs and four RBI.
Lauren Schuette went 2-for-3 and two runs; Kassidy Bishop hit 3-for- 3, home run, double, one run and three RBI; MacKinley Pilat was 1-for-3; Kailey Williams went 1-for-2 with an RBI; CeCe Darilek hit 1-for-3; Ally Chumchal scored two runs; Hannah Nevlud went 1-for-3 and Tamara Hajek hit 1-for-4 with one run.
Game two was played Saturday [May 30, 2015] at Texas Lutheran University and the contest was slightly delayed due to weather.
