LEXINGTON – Class 2A’s sixth-ranked Shiner Comanches scored the first five touchdowns
en route to a nondistrict victory over the Lexington Eagles.
Shiner junior Dadrian Taylor scored five touchdowns and had 185 yards of total offense
to help the Comanches overcome losing five fumbles.
Taylor scored on runs of 6, 16, 34 and 51 yards. He also caught a 44-yard touchdown pass
from junior Brandon Cerney, who completed only three passes for 167 yards. He threw a
90-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Malinovsky for a 35-0 lead with 3 minutes, 32 seconds
left in the first half.
Lexington scored on three big plays, none of them by the offense. Junior Ryan Garrison
had a 90-yard kickoff return; senior Berto Lara returned a fumble 67 yards; and junior
Trevor Patschke returned a fumble 27 yards for touchdowns.
District 12-3A Division II’s Lexington (1-3) managed just 122 yards off offense with its
lone offensive score a 4-yard run by quarterback sophomore Walker Hess.
District 15-2A Division I’s Shiner (4-0) had outscored its first three opponents 112-7.
