Unbeaten Ashley Shimek scattered four hits as Shiner defeated Lindsay in five innings in a Class A state semifinal. Shimek (23-0) struck out eight and walked two.

Shiner (31-4) has won 19 straight games, and the Comanches are averaging more than nine runs a game in the playoffs. Shiner won Class A softball titles in 2001, 2002 and 2008.

"After we lost to Ganado (on March 16), we became much more focused and haven’t lost since," Shimek said.

Shiner jumped to a 9-0 lead after two innings, as Shimek walked and scored in the first before adding a two-RBI base hit in the second. Holly Haas had four hits and drove in five runs for the Comanches.

Ranee Morrison scored twice for Lindsay (31-12).
