Notes: No. 1 Shiner (8-0, 4-0) goes for its sixth straight win over Flatonia (7-1, 4-0). Shiner defeated Flatonia in the district finale last season, knocking it out of the playoffs. Flatonia last defeated Shiner in 1995. If Flatonia wins, it will wrap up a share of the district championship and the top seed in the playoffs. If Shiner wins, it can wrap up the outright district title and the top seed in the playoffs with a win next week against Pettus. Shiner has outscored its district foes 187-7, while Flatonia has outscored its district opponents 179-27. Shiner has won eight straight since losing in last season's state final, and has won 33 of its last 37 games. Flatonia has won seven straight since losing its season opener to Sacred Heart. Flatonia's Lyndon Gutierrez has rushed for an area-leading 1,152 yards and 18 touchdowns, R.J. Lester, who played at Shiner as a sophomore, has passed for 798 yards and six touchdowns, and Galen Dunk has 21 receptions for 370 yards and three touchdowns. Shiner's Chris Baer has rushed for 960 yards and 22 touchdowns and scored an area-leading 136 points.
