SHINER - The Shiner Comanches scored in many different ways to rout the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs, 48-0.

Quentin Wright rushed for two touchdowns and returned a punt 62 yards for a score, and Chris Baer rushed for two touchdowns and returned a fumble 69 yards for another score as the Comanches rolled up 389 yards on the ground.

The Comanches (5-0) jumped on Nixon-Smiley (0-4) early when Wright scored on a 24-yard run with 10:37 left in the first quarter.

Quarterback Garet Pustka opened the second quarter with a 36-yard scoring run to make it 14-0 after Scott Shimek added the second of his three extra points.

Pustka ran eight times for 114 yards and threw for 49 yards.

Chris Baer scored on a 1-yard run right before halftime to make it a 21-0 Shiner lead. Despite getting 90 rushing yards on 19 carries from Ceasar Velasquez, the Mustangs couldn't get into the end zone.

After Wright, who ran for 156 yards, opened the second half with a 68-yard run and Baer scored on a 10-yard scamper, Baer added points on the defensive side of the ball with his fumble return for a touchdown.

Wright capped the scoring with his punt return TD with 1:18 left in the third. Ryan Kloesel was good on three of his four second- half extra-point attempts.
