SHINER - The Shiner Comanches celebrated homecoming with a 36-15 win on Friday over the Louise Hornets in the District 27-1A opener for both teams.
Shiner stayed undefeated at 6-0, while Louise fell to 1-4 on the season.
Shiner got on the board first when Adam Kalich scored on a 9-yard run. A bad snap on the conversion attempt was picked up by Shiner’s Matthew Hibbs, who threw the ball to Josh Greathouse for two points.
Louise tied the game up early in the second quarter on a 19-yard run by Chris Hicks. Daniel Sulak connected with Kyle Lawson for the 2-point conversion.
Shiner responded with a 28-0 run that lasted deep into the fourth quarter.
Kalich scored on an 11-yard run in the second quarter and a 9-yarder in the third quarter to give him three touchdowns on the night. Hibbs followed that with touchdown runs of 1 and 13 yards to make the score 36-8. Louise scored one more time on a 36-yard run by Lawson reach the final score.
Lawson led all rushers with 125 yards on 19 carries for Louise.
Greathouse (86 yards), Kalich (67) and Hibbs (76) led the way for Shiner
