Haas, who led the Lady Comanches to the Class 1A state title, was named Player of the Year on the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 1A all-state softball team released this week.
Haas compiled a 24-5 record with a 0.78 ERA and struck out 269 batters while walking only 33 in 162 innings. She also batted .425 with six home runs and 36 RBI. Haas was named the Most Valuable Player of the Class 1A state tournament and was named the Player of the Year on the 2008 Advocate All-Area Team last month.
Shiner's Brandon Siegel was named Coach of the Year.
Advocate-area players joining Haas on the first team were Woodsboro pitcher Megan Carter, Shiner first baseman Taylor Hajek, Woodsboro third baseman Lacie Jochetz, Flatonia utility/designated player Katrina Mica and Shiner outfielder Ieisha Flowers.
Shiner second baseman Alyssa Strauss made the third team. Woodsboro catcher Kaitlin McCool, Shiner third baseman Amber Shimek, Flatonia outfielder Kayla Dunk and Shiner outfielder Lauren Michalec received honorable mention.
Carter, a sophomore, was 24-4 with a 0.54 ERA. She had 270 strikeouts and only 47 walks in 142 innings. Carter batted .587 with 35 RBI and 24 runs scored.
Hajek, a junior, batted .458 with 32 RBI and 29 runs scored. Jochetz, a junior, batted .519 with 30 RBI and runs scored.
Mica. a senior, batted .352 with 23 RBI and 21 runs scored and was 9-5 on the mound with a 1.09 ERA. Flowers, a junior, hit .485 with 10 RBI.
Strauss, a junior, hit .307 with 18 RBI and 32 runs scored.
McCool, a junior, batted .554 with 18 RBI, 18 stolen bases and 40 runs scored. Shimek, a junior, batted .359 with 14 RBI and 22 runs scored.
Dunk, a senior, hit .397 with 19 RBI and Michalec, a junior, batted.324 with 16 RBI.
