Yoakum fell short in its bid for its first state baseball championship, but it still has something to show for the playoff run.

Three Yoakum players highlighted the 2005 Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 3A all-state team, which was released on Sunday.

A total 14 Advocate area baseball players were named to the Class 1A, 2A and 3A teams.

Yoakum senior pitcher Riley Boening, junior infielder Cory Baros, and senior outfielder Jace Braden were named to the Class 3A team, along with Hallettsville senior outfielder Jason Etzler.

Making the Class 2A team were two Weimar Wildcats - pitcher Shane Janecka and infielder Willie Janecka. Also chosen to the Class 2A team were Schulenburg outfielder Jarad Trojacek and catcher Ryan Besetzny, Yorktown infielder Brett Gips, and East Bernard's Kyle Koenig.

Shiner's battery - pitcher Scott Shimek and catcher Chris Baer - was selected to the Class 1A team along with Flatonia infielders R.J. Lester and Jim Schneider.

Also making the team was The Woodlands junior pitcher Kyle Drabek, son of Victoria native and former major league pitcher Doug Drabek.
