YOAKUM - A two-hitter by Kyle Condel propelled the Shiner Comanches to a 10-0 win over Benavides in six innings in a Class 1A area playoff.
Shiner, which won 10-1 in Game 1, wins the best-of-three series 2-0. The Comanches, now 20-6, will play Charlotte or Thorndale in the regional quarterfinals.
Condel didn't issue a walk and struck out eight while going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Mark Casteel (2-for-4, solo homer, 3 RBIs), Ky Pohler (2-for-4), Julian Longoria (2-for-2), and Josh Nance (2-for-3) sparked the 14-hit attack by Shiner.
"I thought we did a good job of hitting right from the first inning," Shiner coach Daniel Boedeker said. "We played good defense and got good pitching."
