The 6-foot-5, 288-pound Pekar started at offensive tackle and graded out at 88 percent for the Comanches, who went 10-3 and advanced to the regional playoffs.
Pekar had 38 pancake blocks and 56 knockdowns and was a first-team selection on the 55th annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 1A football team.
"He knew a lot of the guys, so he fit right in," Shiner coach Steven Cerny said of Pekar. "It was tough for him to learn the offense, but I have to give a lot of credit to Dylan (Hagens). He (Hagens) really helped him out. The best thing about Will was his work ethic. He listens. You tell him something one time and you know you're going to get his best effort."
Hagens, a senior who has committed to Baylor, was selected to the second-team offense at guard.
Louise senior Clay Zboril was named to the third-team defense in the secondary.
Earning honorable mention were Shiner's Ryan Kloesel in the secondary, Flatonia's Kurt Morrill at running back and Margoritto Grifaldo at linebacker, and Woodsboro's Jentry Gillespie on the defensive line.
The offensive player of the year was Big Sandy senior quarterback Deroderick Strickland and the defensive player of the year was Big Sandy senior lineman Chris Robertson. Stratford's Eddie Metcalf and Bremond's Jerry Hamrick were the coaches of the year.
