Two Advocate-area Class 1A athletes will be joining sides on the college volleyball court next fall.

Woodsboro's Mica Lamprecht and Shiner's Maci Schaefer have signed letters of intent to play volleyball for the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa.
Lamprecht finalized her commitment on Wednesday, while Schaefer put the final touches of her commitment last week.
Lamprecht was the Advocate's all-area MVP this season after leading her team to the Class 1A regional tournament for the last four years. Selected to the Texas Sports Writers Association's all-state first team, she finished the year with 620 kills, 206 blocks, 498 digs, 72 service aces and 45 assists. she was also the District 28-1A MVP.
Schaefer earned recognition on the Advocate's all-area first team and was named a member of the Texas Girls Coaches Association's Class 1A all-state team. The District 27-1A co-offensive MVP finished with 663 assists, 203 digs, 129 kills, 101 aces and 79 blocks in helping the Lady Comanches to the area playoffs.
UT-Permian Basin is currently a provisional member of the Heartland Conference and competes against St. Mary's University, University of the Incarnate Word, St. Edward's University, Dallas Baptist University, Texas A&M International, Panhandle State, Newman University, Lincoln University and Montana State University - Billings.
