The Shiner Comanche offense racked up 416 yards rushing in a 35-14 win over the Charlotte Trojans in the 30-1 A opener for both teams. Meanwhile, the Comanche defense stopped the Trojans in their tracks, allowing only five rushing yards on 22 carries.

The Trojans did better through the air, completing 6-of-12 passes for 161 yards. Shiner completed three passes for 60 yards with Steven Evans, Quentin Wright and Todd Wenske having a catch each.

Chris Baer carried 16 times for 168 yards and one touchdown, Garet Pustka had 80 yards on two carries and two touchdowns and Wright picked up 90 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Pustka opened the scoring on a 48-yard run three minutes into the game. Scott Shimek's kick made it 7-0.

Three minutes later Chris Baer rambled 74 yards for a touchdown and Shiner was up 13-0, while Charlotte was yet to gain any yardage. Shiner had a long drive late in the first quarter with the Comanches using 12 plays to march 57 yards, scoring at the 11:20 mark of the second period. Quentin Wright, whose 56-yard touchdown run in the first period was nullified by a penalty, scored this time on a 2-yard run. Shimek's kick was again good and Shiner was up 20-0.

Shiner tacked on two more points on a safety when the snap on a punt went out of the end zone.

After an exchange of punts, Shiner got the ball on the Charlotte 46. Four plays later Pustka scooted in from the 15. Ryan Kloesel added the PAT kick for a 29-0 lead at halftime.

Charlotte finally put a score on the board late in the third on a 1-yard sneak by fullback Robert Sanchez. Matt Caballero pulled in a pass from John Mark Henry for the 2- point conversion. Wright added Shiner's final score early in the fourth quarter on a 15-yard run to cap a 69-yard drive. Wright had two big runs in the drive, a 23 yarder that took the Comanches into Charlotte territory and a fourth down, 13-yard run that kept the drive alive.

The Trojans added their second touchdown on a 45-yard pass play from Henry to Adam Garcia with 6:59 left in the game. The 45-yard completion came on a 4th-and-18 situation.

Shiner had to punt just two times in the game. Both times Steven Evans sent the Trojans to their 20-yard line with boots of 50 and 52 yards.

The win gives the third ranked Comanches a 6-0 (1-1) record as they take on the Louise Hornets who lost their district opener to Runge 39-34. bring down Concordia's Shaun
