Shiner did what it has done best throughout the years - run the ball.

The Cornanches used the running game for a 14-10 win over Poth last Friday at Comanche Stadium.
The Comanches ran 39 plays, averaging just under five yards per carry for a total of 193 yards.
Kyle Condel ran the offense for the injured Trey Curtis and gained 78 yards on 14 carries, including a 34-yard touchdown run.
Shiner was unsuccessful in the passing game, going 0-for-7 with two interceptions for the night.
Dustin Mayberry, who carried 17 times for 56 yards, opened the scoring late in the first quarter on a 12-yard scamper. The PAT kick failed but the Comanches were on the board with a 6-0 lead.
The Pirates responded with a 68-yard run by Willie Fluitt to tie the game as the first quarter ended. Derek Sevcik’s kick was good and Poth took a 1-point lead.
Midway through the second period, Sevcik booted a 43-yard field goal to up the Pirate’s lead to 10-6.

Shiner scored twice in the third period. The Comanches cut the lead to 10-8 on a safety when Cody Curtis forced a fumble and Poth recovered in their end zone.
On Shiner’s next drive, Condel broke through the line for a 34-yard scoring run to give the Comanches a 14-10 lead. The 2-point conversion try failed.
The Pirates fought back and drove deep into Shiner territory but the Comanche defense held near the 10-yard line and then controlled the rest of the game.
Shiner created some problems on their own with seven fumbles, losing two, and also throwing two interceptions. They had to punt six times, averaging 33.2 yards per kick.
The Shiner defense recovered one fumble and Russell Neubauer intercepted a pass.
