ALL-STATE TOURNAMENT TEAM
The Shiner Comanches all but filled out the roster for the All-Tournament Team selected by the media at the Class 1A state baseball tournament.
The Comanches garnered eight of the ten positions comprising the All-Tournament Team.
Shiner won the championship, defeating Maud 8-7 in the semi-final and downing Follett, 13-3 in a 4 1/2-inning 10-run rule game for the state title.
The first game was played at Disch-Falk Field on Thursday and the championship game was played at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
Making the all-tournament team were pitcher Scott Shimek, Jr.; catcher Brady Strauss, Sr.; first base Garet Pustka, Sr.; second base Jared Boedeker, Jr.; third base Russell Boothe, Soph.; outfield, Chris Baer, Jr. and Chase O'Connor, Jr. and DH Ryan Kloesel, Soph. Senior Cody Freeman and Junior Skylar Gensman, both of Follett, were selected to the shortstop and outfield positions, respectively.
MVP SELECTION
Shiner junior centerfielder Chris Baer was selected as the Class A Tournament Most Valuable Player.
