Chris Baer went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and Scott Shimek struck out 10 batters as Shiner won its fourth state title with a 13-3 victory over Follett in the UIL baseball tournament on Friday.
Shiner (23-9) won its second Class 1A championship, with the other coming in 2002. The Comanches won 2A titles in 1981 and 1992.
Shiner went up 13-3 in the fourth on Baer's RBI single to set up the 10-run rule after the fifth inning. Baer was named MVP.
Shimek (8-4) scattered four hits for the win.
Follett (23-4) took a 2-0 lead off two hits and two Shiner errors in the first inning. But Shiner came back with five-run innings in the second and the fourth.
The game start was delayed by an hour and 15 minutes by rain.
